Sweltering Suffering Battled with Berries

The heat is getting to me.  I don't know if it's that stark heat of white blue skies and shimmering roads out there or not because I've been hiding inside.  The blinds are drawn and the central air hums away at a responsible yet not all that gratifying 78 degrees-- not the weather for turning on any sort of heat producing appliance if it can be at all avoided.  This is somewhat sad as I know that ginger snaps would go so well with this raspberry sorbet.  That aside, you can't be all that woeful when there is a frozen treat about.

Raspberry Lemonade Sorbet

Ingredients:

1 10 oz. bag of frozen berries (I'm saving the fresh ones for my cereal)
1  C of sugar
1 1/2 C of raspberry lemonade

Combine all ingredients in food processor and whiz up for 3 minutes.  Since we don't want to turn on the stove, we're depending on this mechanical approach to dissolve the sugar.

Strain mixture through a fine sieve using a spatula to push it through.  This will remove all of those annoying seeds.

Pour unfrozen sorbet into ice cream maker and let it freeze and spin for about 25 minutes or so (or what your machine says to do) and then let finish hardening in freezer after transferring to a freezer safe container.

And with this fortification of the spirit, I may be able to drag my heat-stupored self back to the pool.

  1. That looks delightfully cool! We could use a bit of a cool down here, too.
