Testing. Testing! Is This Thing On? A Video Instructional for Cut Out Sugar Cookies

This sugar cookie recipe is not very sweet because it is meant to be iced.  Also, after subsequent batches, I'm changing my mind on cook temp from what I said in the video.  Bake at 350° for 11-14 minutes depending on the size of the cookie.

Sugar Cookies:

3 C flour
1 ts baking soda
1/2 ts salt
1/2 ts ground ginger

Whisk those together.

In stand mixer cream:

1 1/2 C powdered sugar
2 sticks of butter
1 tbs of white vinegar

Add 1 egg.

Gradually add flour mixture.  Roll, cut and bake at 350° for 11-14 minutes.  Icing recipe to follow.

  1. Can I hire you to do my tutorials for me? Seriously, you should have a show. Or, make this your show! This was great! You seem super at ease with the camera, and you're really good at explaining what you're doing :)

If you want keep powdered sugar/flour less messy in the mixer, you can drape a kitchen towel over the top of the mixer before you turn it on. The down side is, you don't get to watch it explode. But the upside is, you end up with less white powder all over everything. I do that when I make whipped cream too, as it likes to spray all over the place.

I loved Zola's cameo! If you make more videos, I will TOTALLY watch them.

  2. Kat! You sure know how to butter a girl up!! Yes, for you, I will absolutely make a video about the icing. Thanks for the great tip on keeping the messes under control. I (and even more than me, Mike...) greatly appreciate anything that will keep flour (etc.) off the ceiling :D
